Pending Birthday

My king's birthday is coming up soon (less than two weeks - oh no!).  It lands on a Thursday so we'll have the birthday party the following Sunday.  I want to do something for Thursday, but he's still so young that I'm not quite sure what he'd enjoy.  There aren't that many places for babies either.   I do know I want to make him a smash cake.  I don't want to use too much sugar (or any sugar if possible) so I've been searching for a recipe I feel comfortable with. I also want a crown.  OF COURSE.

I saw that they decorate high chairs, so I'm also thinking about that.  It would've been so awesome to have one of those scrapbooking machines right now.  (That is going to be my next "investment" whenever it is that I'm actually able to make one.)

I've asked my partner about what we're going to do, but like usual, it's up to me.  I'm thinking of going to this park which is not that close, but I've never been there and I heard a radio ad about it and found it interesting.  We can go there, find a nice spot, setup the highchair and take some pics.

Sadly, my camera is acting up.  It gives me an "error 99".  I've looked online and it seems to be a "catch-all" error.  I've done the troubleshooting steps I've come across, but it still very unpredictable.  Luckily we have our camera phones that shoot pretty good pictures.  I'm not quite sure how things are going to go.

Usually, things don't go exactly right, or pretty near right, but although I'm used to it I really hope it doesn't end up being disappointing.  I see this first year as a "trial" year.  How things go, what happens, what needs to be fixed...practice for the next 20 years.

I already learned my Mother's Day lesson, so fingers crossed that there aren't any lessons to learn for this 1st birthday.  I wonder if anyone else gets so close to the birthday without anything concrete set up.  I think this may be a normal new mom thing.  I hope it is.
